Let go
I didn’t leave because I stopped caring.
I left because I was breaking.
Each day I stayed,
a little more of me disappeared.
I smiled to keep the peace,
cried where no one could see.
I whispered my needs into silence,
and waited for love to listen.
You touched me,
but never truly saw me.
I begged the quiet to feel like comfort,
but it only echoed back my ache.
Love shouldn’t feel like loneliness
when you’re not alone.
So I packed my pain gently,
and walked away with trembling steps.
